Mobile Elevating Work Platform IPAF


1. Overall Education Programme

IPAF has revised their mobile elevating work platform course categories and harmonised them with the international standards prEN 280 and ISO DIS 16388. These standards regulate the design and manufacture of mobile levating work platforms worldwide. In this course we mainly discuss the following types of mobiel elevating work platforms:
  • Static Vertical (1a):
    A vertical elevating, one person stamped mobile elevating work platform.

  • Static Boom (1b):     
    self-moving (bending) mobile elevating work platforms supplied with stamps, mobile elevating work platforms on trailers, mobile elevating work platforms on chassis, twirl mobile elevating work platforms supplied with stamps.
  • Mobile Vertical (3a):   
    Self-moving scissor 
    mobile elevating work platforms ans self-moving one person mobile elevating work platforms.
  • Mobile Boom (3b):        
    Self-moving (bending) telescopic 
    mobile elevating work platforms. 
  • Special (SPECIAL):     
    For example; railway 
    mobile elevating work platforms
THis revised system has no consequences for education followed in the past, nor for PAL (Powered Access Licence) cards; these remain valid and card holders do not have to edite their cards.
Current PAL card holders can order a duplicate, when they lost their card. This duplicate wil state the same category as their old one, because this refers to the education that has been followed. When following repition courses or upgrades from the 1th of January 2008, participants will recieve a card mentioning the new category/categories.

2. Objectives

This course provides participants with insights in working with mobile elevating work platforms in a safe and efficient way. During this course we mainly will be focusing on practice. We will also discuss theory, but with the purpose of supporting practice. At our education centre different types of modern mobile elevating work platforms.

3. Maximal amount of participants
  • 1 category = maximum of 6 participants
    When 6 persons are being educated in the same category, no other categories can be treated.

  • 2 categories = maximum of 4 participants 
    • IAD = 4 participants, course duration of 2 days (minimum of 7 hours a day)
    • PAV course = 8 participants, course duration of 1/2 day
    • Armour course = 10 participants, course duration of 1/2 day
    • Loadingn/unloading = 4 participants, course duration of 1 day
    • Mobile elevating work platforms for managers = 10 participants, course duration of 1 day

4. Resources

  • Mobile elevating work platform(s) 
    (A (bending) telescopic 
    mobile elevating work platform, scissor mobile elevating work platform and/ or  car mobile elevating work platforms)

5. Duration of course
  • This depends on which category/categories are being followed

6. Languages

This course and exam is available in the following languages:

7. CCV Hours (Also min. duration of course)

This course contains (at least) 7 hours.
